David Thorne
Transformation Director, Well Up North Primary Care Network
David is employed part time as the Transformation Director of Well Up North Primary Care Network, covering north Northumberland and its 63,000 patients. Well Up North stands out as a leading example of advanced neighbourhood and integrated working. In addition, David holds the position of trustee with Hospice Care North Northumberland. Originally a nurse, David has since taken on leadership positions across various NHS sectors, including hospital, community, primary care, and commissioning organizations. He has served as both Chair and CEO for several primary care alliances, received recognition as a past CCG Manager of the Year, and acted as programme director for major transformation initiatives. With three decades of experience in UK market access, David has contributed both through direct employment and as a prominent consultant. He has provided guidance to around 300 companies and leads Health Policy Explained Limited, offering NHS policy insights and related services.

Professor Partha Kar
National Specialty Advisor in Diabetes for NHS England
Dr Partha Kar is a National Specialty Advisor in Diabetes for NHS England and has been the Clinical Director of Diabetes since 2009 in Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, part of a national award-winning department based on inpatient diabetes care (Healthcare & Social Awards 2010). One of his main areas of work is in helping to redesign diabetes care in an attempt to integrate chronic disease management across primary and secondary organisations. He is the pioneer of the Super Six Model, which won the Care Integration Awards 2012, Quality in Care in Diabetes Award 2012 and was shortlisted for the HSJ Awards across long-term conditions. Partha has been recognized for his work in integrating diabetes care, introducing technology like Flash Glucose Monitoring (FGM) and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM), and advocating for international medical graduates (IMGs) and racial equality within the NHS workforce For his services to diabetes care, he received an OBE in 2021.

Yousaf Ahmad
Director of Medicines Optimisation at NHS Frimley Integrated Care Board
Yousaf Ahmad is currently the Director of Medicines Optimisation and Integrated Care System (ICS) Chief Pharmacist at Frimley ICS. Yousaf has extensive experience across pharmacy, medicines and wider healthcare settings, having worked primarily in large acute health boards in Scotland, England and internationally. He has represented pharmacy at a national level through committee memberships with UKCPA and the RPS bodies and now sits as a Council Board Member at the General Pharmaceutical Council. Yousaf also holds several Non-executive and Board roles at various institutions including a digital health care company and peer-reviewed research houses.

Vishal Mashru
Head of Medicines & Research
Cross Counties Primary Care Network
Vishal graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2010 and began his Pharmacist career in Community Pharmacy. He moved into commissioning in 2015 with Oxfordshire CCG and then over the last 4 years has been based in Leicestershire, most recently at Head of Medicines Optimisation for East Leicestershire and Rutland CCG. Vishal’s current role is the Head of PCN Medicines and Research for Cross Counties PCN in Leicestershire, he has been in this role since 2020 being instrumental in the development of PCN structures and programmes of work against the PCN network contract and GP contract. Vishal has been involved in developing the strategy along with the management structure for the PCN to become a sustainable organisation. Vishal is and the ICB Clinical Lead for Medicines Optimisation and has been in this role since 2022 and has been involved in driving forward the Medicines Optimisation agenda in Primary Care. His other roles include: LLR ICS Medicines Optimisation Clinical Lead & Anticoagulation Lead, LLR ICB Research Champion, Chair of LLR Area Prescribing Committee.
